Principal's Message

Welcome back to school for all of our students and parents.  It has been a very busy summer, and we are off to a tremendous start to the school year!

Hart High School is a dynamic place to work and learn, and I want to encourage our students to find some way to get connected to Hart High School above and beyond their regular class periods.  Currently, we have 1,000 athletes, 400 performers, and more than 40 clubs.  By becoming involved in Hart’s extracurricular program, students are creating actual real-life, non-electronic social networks and are surrounding themselves with students who possess similar interests.  Connected students do better in the classroom, and they contribute to the awesome school spirit we have here.  Our athletic teams, performing groups, and clubs can be found on our website:  www.harthighschool.org .

Additionally, the Washington Post, US News & World Report, The Daily Beast, and Newsweek continue to recognize Hart High School as one of the top high schools in the nation.  Last year, we administered over 1,100 AP exams, and though we continue to open the doors to allow more and more students to challenge themselves with these college-level courses, our passing rate is still around 70 percent!  Please encourage your students to challenge themselves by taking some of our AP courses.

Finally, it’s never too soon to start checking on your student’s academic progress.  Please make sure you have an active Parent Portal account, which enables you to keep track of grades and attendance.  If your student needs assistance, our intervention program is ready to help.  We have Homework Lunch running every week; subject-specific tutoring at lunch and after school; and Saturday Learning Academies during various Saturdays throughout the year.  Please check our website under the Students tab for a detailed schedule of times and locations.

Again, we are off to a great start this year, and I am excited to have a campus full of great students and staff!

We are Alive with Pride!
